Porter's Journal

The Trump Administration’s Fiscal Strategy Is Becoming Clear

At Porter & Co. we are determined to be your best source of investing, economic, and financial insight, and your first choice for information about what to do with your money… in the entire world, bar none.

This is Porter & Co.’s Sunday Investment Chronicles. Every week, the Porter & Co. research team pores over thousands (and thousands) of articles, reports, social media posts, analyses, regulatory filings, and anything else we can get our hands (and eyes) on to understand what’s happening in the world of investing and finance – and to uncover the most original, compelling, and double-head-fake ideas…

… and we curate the best of those here. We do it all the old fashioned way: Hours of reading and brainpower (no AI curation here). We read everything – for you.

In Case You Missed It

On Monday and Wednesday in the Daily Journal, Porter completed his three-part series that he started last week. The three essays explain three key principles of investing – 1) use other people’s money, 2) don’t lose money, and 3) buy businesses that will compound capital at a high rate.

These concepts aren’t the basics, Porter explained, like the time value of money, but instead these are the core concepts that he learned from his most valuable mentors, like Bill Bonner, Harry Browne, and T. Boone Pickens.

To cap off the lesson, Porter shared a video of how he constructed his own personal investment portfolio using these principles. He sent the video to Partner Pass members on Friday, July 4, as a gift for their commitment to a lifelong membership with Porter & Co.

On Thursday, we released two recommendations. Erez Kalir shared with Biotech Frontiers subscribers the details of a company that has brought gene editing to the next level. He wrote:

Unlike first generation gene-editing tools based on CRISPR technology, this new one doesn’t make breaks in DNA’s double helix. Instead, it uses a guided search-and-replace mechanism – like a molecular word processor – to correct typos in our genetic code.”

And the big name investors are pouring in.

The Big Secret On Wall Street team delivered its eighth recommendation of a property-and-casualty insurance company. We wrote:

It began 25 years ago as a mainstream P&C insurer with a goal to fill a significant industry void, and it later was forced to adapt and ultimately found its niche as a more value-added provider of specialty services. This journey is just beginning, though… As [the company] continues delivering on its turnaround plan and an improving earnings profile, investors should expect the stock’s valuation to rise closer toward that of its peers… A mid-level valuation of 15x puts the stock at $195, close to 90% upside from today.”
